Watch Kane Brown Sing No-Frills ‘Thunder in the Rain’
At the outset of his career, Kane Brown used social media to post cell phone videos of himself performing popular country songs with only acoustic guitar accompaniment. In a new video, the rising star tries the approach on himself, stripping his current single “Thunder in the Rain” down to its most basic elements: guitar, percussion and vocals.
In its original incarnation, “Thunder in the Rain” makes use of producers Dann Huff and Matthew McVaney’s studio wizardry – echoing, wordless vocal snippets and synthesizers ping-pong off more traditional country rock instrumentation to complete the expansive sound. The acoustic version brings focus to Brown’s voice, a rich baritone that powers out the highest notes of the unabashedly romantic chorus. “Thunder in the Rain” was co-written by Brown with McVaney and Josh Hoge, and appears on the singer’s self-titled debut album, which recently landed at Number One on Billboard‘s Country Albums chart and claimed the biggest first week sales for a country debut since 2014.
Currently, Brown is headlining shows on his Ain’t No Stopping Us Now Tour, which visits the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio on December29th. The trek rolls on into 2017, visiting the West Coast, Colorado, Kansas and Texas.
