See David Lynch Eat Doughnut as FBI Bureau Chief in ‘Twin Peaks’ Tease
FBI Bureau Chief Gordon Cole, the role David Lynch played on Twin Peaks, returns to enjoy a tasty doughnut in the latest teaser for the upcoming revival series. With composer Angelo Badalamenti’s classic Peaks theme echoing in the background, Lynch’s character gazes at the pastry between bite while wearing his requisite hearing aids.
Besides recapturing the eerie vibe and offbeat humor that made the series (and film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me) so beloved, the teaser serves no other purpose than to get viewers excited about the return of Cole – Number 19 on Rolling Stone‘s list of the best Twin Peaks characters – as well as to remind fans that the show will return in 2017 on Showtime.
“Revisiting all this territory, there’s a freshness to it, there’s a lightness to it,” Kyle MacLachlan, who is reprising his role as Agent Dale Cooper, said in a recent promo. “We knew it was going to be something special, we just didn’t know in what form, or how.”
A number of Twin Peaks and Fire Walk With Me denizens are slated to return along with a massive list of actors and musicians that co-creators Lynch and Mark Frost recruited, including: Michael Cera, Monica Bellucci, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jim Belushi, Tim Roth, Robert Forster, Ashley Judd, Amanda Seyfried and Lynch vets Laura Dern, Balthazar Getty and Naomi Watts have all joined the cast, along with musicians like Trent Reznor, Eddie Vedder, Sky Ferreira and Sharon Van Etten.
