Bill Murray Surprises Lupe Fiasco Backstage in Texas, Demands Encore
After the Chicago Cubs’ victorious baseball season, Bill Murray is lending support to another Windy City underdog: rapper Lupe Fiasco. The actor made an unexpected appearance at Fiasco’s concert in Austin, Texas on Wednesday night and demanded an encore when the pair met backstage, Fiasco tweeted.
Fiasco had ambitious plans for 2016 that didn’t pan out. In April, the rapper said he would release a trilogy of new albums within the calendar year – massive follow-up to his 2015 album Tetsuo & Youth. Last month, Fiasco confirmed that the albums were delayed due to “clearance and mixing issues” and wouldn’t be released this year. “Sorry y’all. I tried 2 make it happen but best laid plans make a mess made,” Fiasco tweeted.
Perhaps with Murray as his cheerleader, 2017 will turn out better for the rapper. The comedian’s support of his home team in the 2016 baseball season was constant throughout the World Series. Murray sang “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the seventh-inning stretch of Game 3. And after the Cubs’ historic win, he celebrated with the players in the Cubs’ locker room and again on Saturday Night Live singing “Go Cubs Go” with three players.
