See Cody Jinks, Time Jumpers Cover Haggard’s ‘My Favorite Memory’
Vince Gill and The Time Jumpers welcomed special guest Cody Jinks at their regular gig at Nashville’s 3rd and Lindsley Monday, December 5th for a performance that was anything but standard. Following three nights of sold-out gigs in Nashville, the Denton, Texas native sang an almost note-perfect rendition of Merle Haggard’s nostalgic Number One “My Favorite Memory.”
Jinks admits to being a little overwhelmed being sharing a stage with the illustrious band, who garnered two Grammy nominations earlier today for best Americana album and best American roots music song. “I can’t believe this is happening. I wish my mom was here,” Jinks says, imagining her over-the-top reaction.
Rolling Stone Country named Jinks, who’s understandably drawn some comparisons to Chris Stapleton, one of its 10 New Country Artists You Need To Know for September, lauding the former metal band frontman for his welcome switch to outlaw country and his most recent effort, I’m Not The Devil, which debuted on Billboard‘s Country Albums chart at Number Four in August.
It sounds like Jinks is welcome back on the Time Jumpers’ stage anytime. Gill praises Jinks’ performance, stating, “Great stuff buddy,” before fellow Time Jumper Jeff Taylor adds, “That’s some country music. As one of my friends would say, ‘If you don’t like that, you don’t like nothing.'”
