Watch Cyndi Lauper, Billy Corgan Cover Crystals at Benefit Gig
Cyndi Lauper hosted her annual Home for the Holidays benefit concert Saturday, with guests like Aloe Blacc, Grace VanderWaal, Sharon Van Etten and Billy Corgan joining the singer onstage at New York’s Beacon Theatre.
With the Smashing Pumpkins singer, Lauper covered the Crystals’ 1961 single “There’s No Other (Like My Baby),” Stereogum reports.
Corgan also performed the Christmas classic “Silver Bells” at the Home for the Holidays benefit, as well as his cover of Skeeter Davis’ “The End of the World” which he previously performed at his Chicago teashop.
VanderWall, the 12-year-old America’s Got Talent winner, sang “True Colors” with Lauper, who also performed “Time After Time” alongside Aloe Blacc. The concert concluded with Lauper and all her guests coming together for “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”
Lauper’s Home for the Holidays concert raises money for the singer’s True Colors Fund, which seeks to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth.
