Watch Sting Perform Career-Spanning Medley at AMAs
Sting performed a medley of new and classic songs during his appearance at the 2016 American Music Awards. The former Police frontman recently released his 12th solo LP, 57th and 9th, on November 11th.
Before accepting his Award of Merit at the show from Robert Downey Jr., Sting turned to the stage with his band and back-up vocalists to launch into his new single “I Can’t Stop Thinking About You.” From there, the rocker launched into the Police’s “Message in a Bottle” and “Every Breathe You Take” to highlight two of the biggest hits in his former band’s catalog.
Over the summer, Sting co-headlined an extensive tour with Peter Gabriel as he finished his first rock album in decades, which is named after the intersection he would cross every day while heading to the New York studio where the album was recorded. He recently announced that he would launch an expansive tour in support of his new music starting in February. Earlier this month, he took the stage at the recently reopened Bataclan to mark the one-year anniversary of the Paris terror attacks.
Sting will hit the road in support of his new LP ’57th and 9th’ this coming February with an expansive North American tour. Watch here.
