Chris Rock Announces Total Blackout Stand-Up Tour
Chris Rock will embark on his first full-scale world tour in nine years when the comedian hits the road on his Total Blackout stand-up tour in 2017.
“Tonight, I am announcing that I, Chris Rock, am going on tour,” Rock said in a Facebook Live video Monday outside Los Angeles’ famed Comedy Store. “The Total Blackout tour is coming to your town in 2017… First time in nine years, haven’t done it in awhile. Been a little busy, You know, writing Pootie Tang 3 and everything. But hey, it’s time.”
Rock also promised he would perform “all-new material” on the Total Blackout tour, which borrows its title from his pre-Oscars tweet where he promised a “#blackout” at the Academy Awards he was hosting.
In October, Rock hinted that he would go out on tour after it was revealed that he had reached a deal to bring two stand-up specials to Netflix, the comedian’s first specials since 2008’s Kill the Messenger. The first of two specials will be filmed during the Total Blackout tour.
Tickets for Rock’s tour start going on sale on December 7th on Live Nation.
Fans who want a preview of Rock in action can check out Rock’s pair of shows tonight at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Improv.
