Weekend Rock Question: What Is the Best Album of 2016?
This may have been a rough year on the political front, but at least a ton of great albums came out to help us get though it. It began eight days into the year with David Bowie‘s Blackstar and continued through the next few months with stellar releases by everyone from Frank Ocean and Kanye West to Paul Simon, Leonard Cohen and the Rolling Stones. There’s still another four weeks left, so it’s possible 2016 still has a few musical surprises yet to come.
Now we have a question for you: What is the best album of 2016? Feel free to vote for a commercial smash like Beyoncé‘s Lemonade and Frank Ocean’s Blonde, something from an elder statesmen like Paul Simon’s Stranger to Stranger and the Rolling Stones’ Blue & Lonesome or an under-the-radar release like Anohni’s Hopelessness and White Lung’s Paradise. Then there’s David Bowie’s Blackstar and Leonard Cohen’s You Want It Darker, both of which were recorded while the genius knew his life was likely coming to an end. It was an incredible year for music. Pick whichever album you want, but please only vote once and only for a single selection.
