Sigur Ros Extend North American Tour With 2017 Dates
Sigur Rós expanded their recent theater tour with a new round of North American tour dates. The Icelandic post-rock trio will kick off the trek April 7th in Santa Barbara, California and conclude June 17th in Queens, New York. Following the structure of their previous tour, the band will present two career-spanning sets separated by an intermission.
The group will perform across the U.S. alongside two stops in Canada. The tour includes a three-night residency at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles (April 13th to 15th), accompanied by the L.A. Philharmonic.
Tickets go on sale Friday, December 16th at 10 a.m. local time. American Express Card members can access a pre-sale from Tuesday, December 13th at noon through Thursday, December 15th at 10 p.m. local time. Further ticket information, including details on an exclusive fan pre-sale, is available at the band’s website.
Sigur Rós booked mostly theater gigs on their latest tour, eschewing brass and string instruments for a more intimate presentation. For the first time since the tour preceding 2002’s ( ), the band road-tested new material; they also delivered new interpretations of old songs like 1999’s “Starálfur” and 2002’s “Dauðalagið.” The band wrapped their theater tour October 14th in Phoenix.
In June, Sigur Rós released a disturbing music video for “Óveður,” their first new song since 2013 LP Kveikur.
