See Scarlett Johansson, Craig Campbell’s Playful Nancy Sinatra Cover
Singer Craig Campbell has a very special woman joining him for the latest installment in his “Woman Cover Wednesday” video series: Scarlett Johansson. The actress duets with Campbell on Nancy Sinatra’s sassy 1966 chart-topper “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’,” at an undisclosed military base in Afghanistan where the two are on a USO tour visiting military personnel.
Seated on folding metal chairs, as soldiers mill about in the background, Campbell and ScarJo give a delightfully casual performance. “What’s the first words,” Campbell asks with a laugh. Johansson takes the lead on the first verse, but since neither can remember the second verse, they call it quits after singing the chorus twice.
Since the “Woman Cover Wednesday” series began earlier this year, Campbell’s selections have included Miranda Lambert’s “The House That Built Me,” Kelsea Ballerini’s “Dibs,” Janis Joplin’s “Me and Bobby McGee,” Deana Carter’s “Strawberry Wine” and Mariah Carey’s “Hero.”
“Outskirts of Heaven,” Campbell’s latest single, climbs to Number 29 this week on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart, making it his highest charting single since 2013’s “Keep Them Kisses Comin’.”
As for Johansson, she’s no slouch in the music department, having released a number of projects since 2008 and lending her vocals to “Before My Time,” a best original song Oscar nominee from the 2012 documentary Chasing Ice. But at least for now her day job is secure: Earlier this year, Box Office Mojo ranked Johansson the highest-grossing actress of all time with her movies earning a staggering $3.3 billion in North America.
Campbell is on tour through the end of the year, including a New Year’s Eve gig in Duluth, Georgia.
