See Goth Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein Shop in ‘Portlandia’ Trailer
Ahead of Portlandia Season Seven, Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein‘s goth characters, Vincent and Jacqueline, return for a bizarre shopping journey to Bed, Bath & Beyond. The new season begins January 5th.
The trailer shows the duo discovering their clothes are filthy with dust, so they replace their witches’ brooms with a vacuum cleaner. At the big-box store, they discover fluorescent lighting and cheery salespeople – a sharp contrast with their morbid style. First, they browse for new kitchenware, with Jacqueline asking an employee: “Do you have a pan that would be good for blood?” Later, Vincent picks out a black bath mat, which he repurposes as a living room rug.
IFC released two other teasers for the next season, including one with Portland Trailblazers star Damian Lillard, where a lonely Brownstein attends an “Acquaintance Fair” to “draft” a new friend. The other clip explores the sheer terror behind vague workplace queries like “Can I talk to you for a minute?” and “Can you step outside with me for a second?”
Armisen and Brownstein’s goth sketch was known for recruiting Glenn Danzig for last season, casting the punk-metal icon as a mysterious Romanian beach attire guru. Danzig told Rolling Stone he’s a “big Fred Armisen fan” and had trouble holding back laughter during the shoot.
