Watch Justice, Susan Sarandon Cruise Through Desert in ‘Fire’ Video
Justice channel the spirit of Thelma & Louise in the video for new single, “Fire,” from the band’s third LP, Woman. In the video, Susan Sarandon plays a mechanic who takes the French duo on a convertible cruise through the desert. Director Pascal Teixeira shot Sarandon dancing in slow-motion and driving down a long road flanked by wind turbines.
The video concept was inspired by a casual conversation about washing a car, between the director and band, Teixeira said in a statement. “The car design, the make, where that could take place, how much soap, the mood, the sun, and there should be a woman to go cruising with, an iconic mix of cool, allure and strength. [And] Susan Sarandon of course!” Sarandon starred in the 1991 classic escape film, Thelma & Louise.
The film’s themes of growth and change resonate for Justice musician Xavier de Rosnay, who spoke to Rolling Stone about the challenges of keeping up with EDM’s rapid trends. “To be relevant in [club] scene, you have to be young and understand and embrace that,” said de Rosnay. “Every year there are new people, like 18-years-old, who make this amazing music because it has their energy and sounds like nothing else that has been made before.”
