Watch Green Day, Beck, Weezer Unleash Hits at KROQ Christmas Concert
Green Day, Beck and Weezer electrified night two of KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas, held Sunday at The Forum in Inglewood, California. In a trio of video clips, the headlining bands unleash visceral versions of their hit songs.
Introduced by an enthused Adrian Young and Tony Kanal of No Doubt, Green Day deliver a raw version of their 2004 punk anthem “American Idiot.” Beck tackles his slacker signature, 1994’s Loser,” breathlessly trying to keep up with the surreal lyrics. And Weezer perform their 2001 nerd-metal staple “Hash Pipe,” highlighted by Rivers Cuomo’s wah-wah guitar solo.

KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas took place December 10th and 11th. The first night featured Blink-182, Kings of Leon, Jimmy Eat World, AFI, M83, X Ambassadors and the Strumbellas, while Bastille, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Phantogram, Bishop Briggs and the Head and the Heart rounded out night two. Grouplove were forced to cancel their performance due to singer Hannah Hooper’s vocal issues.
As Billboard reports, some performers reflected the holiday theme by incorporating Christmas tunes into their setlists. Blink-182 played their 1997 song “I Won’t Be Home For Christmas,” which they wrote for a compilation from KROQ DJ team Kevin and Bean. Jimmy Eat World covered Wham’s 1986 classic “Last Christmas.”
The event benefitted local charities Para Los Niños and Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center.
