See Pussy Riot’s Nadya Take Literal Blood Bath in ‘Organs’ Video
Pussy Riot‘s Nadya Tolokonnikova bathes in a bathtub of blood in the band’s unsettling clip for “Organs,” a rattling electronic track. Tolokonnikova’s lyrics weave sexual imagery with pointed attacks at Vladimir Putin and the Russian government: “Female orgasm faces obstacles/ My strap-ons are being replaced with uniforms and icons,” she speak-sings in Russian over clanging programmed drums and eerie, looped chants. “Shitfaced parliament bans condoms/ Agony, spasm, big bang of the falling down crown.”
“My president replaced his dick with an ICBM,” the singer intones later, as blood continues to drip. “Freedom and bondage is the same shit now/ But when instead of inserting cocks, they insert tanks in my town.” The clip veers back and forth between up-close shots of her submerged face and wider images of a floating rubber ducky.
On Tuesday, Pussy Riot debuted their celebratory new song “Straight Outta Vagina,” produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek as part of Adult Swim’s 2016 Singles Club. Tolokonnikova also starred in that track’s bizarre clip, which featured clergy members, candy vaginas and bathroom choreography.
Tolokonnikova recently appeared on a remix of Weezer’s “Jacked Up,” featured on the deluxe edition of their latest self-titled LP, widely dubbed The White Album. In February, Pussy Riot released a disturbing clip for the Sitek-produced “Chaika.”
