Reba McEntire, Brooks & Dunn Add New Dates to Las Vegas Residency
Reba McEntire and Brooks and Dunn have extended their Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together Again residency in Las Vegas, which will keep the superstars in Sin City through the end of 2017.
The Colosseum at Caesars Palace show, which bowed in 2015 and reunited Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn after a five-year hiatus, has now been extended three times. The trio of Reba, Brooks and Dunn, who have drawn more than 130,000 fans to the Las Vegas show, had previously announced six performances for February and March 2017. The 12 new dates, which go on sale December 2nd, run June through December 2017.
The two-hour concert features more than 30 songs from both acts’ storied careers, as well as joint performances by the threesome, who first toured together in 1993 when the duo opened for McEntire. The show is also the only place to currently see Dunn perform songs from his new solo set, Tattooed Heart, which includes “Still Feels Like Mexico,” a duet with McEntire.
Dunn reflected recently on his immediate chemistry with McEntire. “Her whole world is about cowboys,” the singer told Rolling Stone Country this summer. “The first show I ever played with her as Brooks and Dunn, I remember her as the curtain was coming up looking down at my belt buckle, sizing me up. She said, ‘Oh, really? A Cheyenne belt buckle? Do you ride?’ I went, ‘Not like your people do!’ [Laughs] Her dad was the three-time [bull riding] champion, and her grandfather won Cheyenne in 1934. But my dad was into a lot of that stuff, too. And I was actually a stable boy at Keeneland in Kentucky. We just come from the same worlds.”
The residency, which came out of a conversation when the three artists met for a friendly dinner in 2014, has lead to Brooks and Dunn reuniting to perform beyond the Las Vegas shows, including at Country LakeShake Festival in Chicago this past summer.
The pair attributes their longevity to good fortune and persistence. “I think it’s 80 percent luck,” Dunn told Rolling Stone Country. “We started late, in terms of age, and to have it keep going . . . There is no secret. Lightning’s gonna strike if you’re there.”
“Both of us are pretty stubborn, too,” added Brooks. “We never really celebrated. We were blessed with successes along the way, but from Number Ones to awards shows we never sat around and went, ‘Wow, we did it!’ It made us nervous, like, ‘We gotta get to work here!'”
The show’s extension makes the revue the longest-running country music residency at the Colosseum. Shania Twain’s two-year engagement at the venue ended in December 2014.
The 12 new show dates for Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together Again going on sale this Friday are June 21st, 24th, 25th, 28th; July 1st, 2nd; November 29th; and December 1st, 2nd, 5th, 8th, 9th.
