Kevin Meaney, Stand-Up Comedian and Actor, Dead at 60
Kevin Meaney, a longtime stand-up comedian and a beloved figure in the comedy community, died Friday at his home in Forestburgh, New York. He was 60.
Meaney’s agent confirmed the actor’s death to CNN. No cause of death was provided. The comedian, known for his catchphrase “That’s not right,” was scheduled to perform Saturday night in Providence, Rhode Island.
A veteran of the stand-up comedy scene for nearly 40 years, Meaney landed his first HBO special in 1986, which he followed the next year with a spot on The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson, his first of dozens of late-night appearances.
Over the course of his career, Meaney had roles in films like Big and television shows like 2 Broke Girls, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, 30 Rock and Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist. In 1990, he played the title role in the short-lived sitcom version of the John Candy comedy Uncle Buck.
Following news of Meaney’s death, many of his comedy peers tweeted tributes and remembrances to the comedian. “Always thought Kevin Meaney was a brilliant comedian. Then we hung out in Ireland and I found out he was also a terrific person. RIP,” Patton Oswalt tweeted.

Bob Saget wrote, “Kevin Meaney. So kind. So damn funny. So sorry for his loved ones for his loss. Rest In Peace dear Kevin,” while Judd Apatow tweeted, “Kevin Meaney was as funny as they get and the nicest man. He could make you lose your mind laughing. A very special person.”
