Watch Eddie Vedder, Bill Murray Sing the Band’s ‘The Weight’
Eddie Vedder and Derek Trucks led a group of hyped-up Chicago Cubs fans in an acoustic sing-along of the Band‘s “The Weight” during a private house party Saturday in Wrigleyville, following the team’s Game Four loss in the World Series, Consequence of Sound reports (via Pearl Jam Radio). A passionate Bill Murray added spirited backing vocals from the audience, shouting at one point, “These guys are good!”
During the Cubs’ monumental World Series run – in which they’ve rallied from being down 3-1 to tie the Cleveland Indians and force a game seven – the Lovable Losers have earned support from famous fans like Murray and Vedder, willing the club toward a potential first championship since 1908.
Murray issued a hilarious, Donald Duck-styled version of “Take Me Out to the Ballroom” during Game 3 at Wrigley Field, the team’s first World Series home game since 1945. Vedder, a long-noted Cubs diehard, led the crowd with his own rousing version during Game 5.
The celebrity factor has intensified this year’s World Series – from Murray excitedly attending every game to LeBron James arriving after a Cavs game to John Cusack vaping between pitches.
Game 7 is set for Wednesday, November 2nd.
