Amanda Nunes on Ronda Rousey: ‘200 Percent Chance’ I Beat Her at UFC 207
Everybody in the MMA world is getting excited about Ronda Rousey’s comeback at UFC 207 on December 30th. Everybody, that is, except for her opponent.
Amanda Nunes, who holds the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion belt that Rousey wants to take, is pretty confident that her opponent’s first match back since getting knocked out by Holly Holm at UFC 193 will end in a somewhat similar fashion. Very confident.
While she says that Rousey does deserve the title shot, the Brazilian fighter known as “The Lioness” told TMZ Sports there’s a “200 percent chance” that she’ll retain her title. She’s thankful for the shot, but also claims she knows exactly what to expect of her opponent who has had over a year to think about her last fight, and who you’d have to imagine will have some sort of rust or baggage after such a long and talked about layoff.
Nunes might be confident that it’s her destiny to win the fight, but oddsmakers aren’t so sure. Even though she’s coming in as the challenger after over a year away, Rousey is still the heavy favorite to win the match. As one of the most popular MMA fighters in the world, one would imagine Rousey will walk into the Octagon with the same sort of “must win” mindset that equally popular men’s fighter Conor McGregor had in his UFC 202 rematch against Nate Diaz. It’s the match that could put her career right back on track if she wins, but if she loses, then Rousey’s fighting career would probably suffer serious damage. So no matter how sure her challenger might be, you can expect one hell of a fight.
