Watch ‘SNL’ Bash Trump With Melania Parody of Beyonce’s ‘Sorry’
Saturday Night Live rewrote Beyoncé‘s Lemonade standout “Sorry” for the women in Donald Trump‘s life – wife Melania, daughters Ivanka and Tiffany, campaign manager Kellyanne Conway and the mogul’s “one black friend” and former Apprentice contestant Omarosa – in a sketch dubbed “Melanianade.”
In the sketch, the five women unite to blast the Republican candidate’s antics throughout his campaign, from the leaked Access Hollywood tape to the wave of sexual assault accusations against the mogul. The latter causes Melania (played by Cecily Strong) to take a wooden baseball bat to an HDTV, a la Beyoncé’s “Hold Up” video.
Emily Blunt, who portrays Ivanka Trump in the sketch, sings to the “Sorry” melody, “Daddy once tweet he’s sorry / I don’t even think he means it / I’m supposed to be the brains here / What the hell have I been thinking? / Now he’s bringing Paula Jones in / There goes my friendship with Chelsea Clinton.”
“Melanianade” also transforms Beyoncé’s epic kiss-off “Better call Becky with the good hair” into Melania’s “You’d just be that guy with the weird hair.”
However, the façade comes to an end when Alec Baldwin’s Trump bursts into the room and tells the women it’s time to go, quelling their sudden-rebellious feelings toward the candidate. The real Trump, who was already mad about the SNL “hit job” on him, could not have been pleased with the Lemonade parody.
