Watch John Oliver Taunt Donald Trump With Emmy Award
On Sunday night’s Last Week Tonight, John Oliver appealed to Donald Trump by making a bet with him. If Trump loses the election, Oliver will hand over his Emmy statue if the real estate mogul admits defeat. The wager stems from Trump’s infamous line during the final presidential debate that he “should have gotten” an Emmy for reality show The Apprentice.
Throughout Donald Trump‘s presidential campaign, John Oliver has begged the Republican to drop out, called him “sociopathic,” criticized his “bullshit,” compared him to an unappetizing raisin cookie and re-branded him “Donald Drumpf.”
“Of course he wants an Emmy!” Oliver said. “It’s a woman, it’s gold and it’s proportionate to his tiny hands. It’s basically Trump’s ideal mate … Here’s the problem. It increasingly seems like if Donald Trump loses, we are not going to get the concession speech that the country badly needs – because he is medically incapable of accepting that he is a loser. So we need to find a way for him to give a concession speech while he’s still able to claim that he won something.
“Let’s bet on the outcome of this election,” he continued, speaking directly to Trump. “I will take the side that you win. You will take the side that you lose. That way, if you lose, you still win, and as for the stakes in the bet, I have something that I know you want!”
Oliver snuck in a few more jabs at the Republican, taunting him with his Emmy statue. “You don’t even have to take her furniture shopping,” he cracked. “Take the bet, Donald. Take the fucking bet.”
