Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood Reveal Details of ‘Christmas Together’
Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will release their very first joint album next month, a holiday collection called Christmas Together.
The project isn’t a typical duets album nor a typical holiday album. Rolling Stone Country spoke with the superstar couple at this past weekend’s Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s Medallion Ceremony, and they told us a little bit about the track list.
“What I love about it is it’s not just 10 duets blowing in your face,” Brooks said. “We’ll have three or four [together], and she’ll have two or three. . . I’ll have two or three. And like all of my stuff, she’s singing on the background of my songs. She’s never invited me to sing on her records, but anyway. . . [Laughs].”
“We love Christmas,” Yearwood added after correcting her husband of 11 years on his little joke. “We play everybody’s Christmas records at our house and sometimes you think, ‘I’m not gonna play my own record, I’d be embarrassed.’ But I’m gonna play our record this Christmas, because I love the songs! It’s a mix of songs you’ll know and some new songs written by [Brooks].”
Christmas Together is out November 11th, the same day Brooks releases his 10-disc box set, The Ultimate Collection, via Target. His new album of country originals, Gunslinger is a part of that compilation set, and will be released on its own November 25th.
Preceding all of those releases, on November 2nd, Brooks and Yearwood will duet on a medley of country classics on the CMA Awards. Brooks is up for Entertainer of the Year at the big show, which airs live from Nashville on ABC.
