Hear President Obama’s Workout Music: Beyonce, Bob Marley, Icona Pop
President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama unveiled their respective workout playlists, which feature an array of songs from artists including Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Jay Z, Bob Marley and Stevie Wonder. The President and First Lady offered up their latest playlists as part of Obama’s job guest-editing next month’s issue of Wired, and both sets are available to stream on Spotify.
The POTUS’ 10-track queue opens with the Spike Mix of the Black Eyed Peas’ “Let’s Get It Started” and includes the extended mix of Beyoncé’s “Get Me Bodied,” Marley and the Wailers’ “Could You Be Loved” and Jay Z and Drake’s “Off That.” Always one to throw in some left-field choices, Obama’s also picked Courtney Barnett’s “Elevator Operator” and Icona Pop’s “Emergency.”
Beyoncé also appears on the First Lady’s playlist, with 4 cut “I Was Here” alongside Monáe’s “Tightrope,” Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours),” Jackson’s “Unbreakable” and Sara Bareilles’ “Love Song.” Proving once again she’s definitely the coolest Obama, Michelle also included Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair” and Chubb Rock’s Nineties hip-hop throwback, “Treat ‘Em Right.”
Obama has released several playlists throughout his presidency, most recently sharing his second eclectic summer playlist, split into songs for night and day. He also shared what he was listening to during his 2008 and 2012 campaigns, as well as a playlist to celebrate his second inauguration. The Obama family and the family of Vice President Joe Biden also shared holiday playlists in 2015. One can only hope Uncle Joe drops his own workout tape soon.
