Watch First Presidential Debate Between Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump
NBC’s Nightly News host Lester Holt moderates Monday night’s first presidential debate in which Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump face off for the first time onstage. The debate is expected to have a large viewership, with an estimated 100 million potentially tuning in as the pair tackle issues like “America’s Direction,” “Achieving Prosperity’ and “Securing America” on Monday, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The debate takes place at Hempstead, New York’s Hofstra University at 9 p.m. ET and can be watched on any major cable and broadcast network, including CNN, Fox News, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC and C-SPAN. Twitter will live stream the Bloomberg Media broadcast and Facebook Live will carry ABC’s live stream as well as various news networks’ live broadcasts. YouTube will also have live streams from many organizations, including PBS, the Washington Post and Telemundo.
The bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates chose Holt, who immediately came under fire from Trump as the candidate complained to Fox’s Bill O’Reilly that Holt was a Democrat and part of “a very unfair system.” But Holt is, in fact, a registered Republican, and has been since 2003. The debate is divided into six 15-minute segments, with two segments per topic, and will last for 90 minutes.
C-SPAN will show both Clinton and Trump in a split screen for the duration of the 90-minute debate, giving viewers an unfiltered look at the candidates’ reactions. Meanwhile, Bloomberg TV will conduct on-screen fact checks of the statements each Oval Office hopeful makes.
From bankruptcies to awards to policy issues, here are the stats on presidential nominees Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Watch here.
