Watch Pusha T’s Ominous New ‘H.G.T.V.’ Video
“Half a year later/ Still ain’t heard an album greater,” Pusha T boasts over Mike WiLL Made-It’s ominous, low-end production in the new video for “H.G.T.V.” The opening salvo sets the tone for his slick rhymes, which alternately serve as takedowns and props over the course of his verses.
Directed by Yung Jake, the minimalist black-and-white, vertically-shot clip complements the spare production, which highlights the rapper’s cutting wordplay. “The bar’s been lowered/ The wells run dry/ They beefing over melodies, but no, not I,” he spits. “See, I’m so Top 5/ If they factor in the truth/ I just might blow by.”
While the G.O.O.D. Music head honcho delivers plenty of scathing lines aimed at unnamed rappers he deems inferior, he also gives a shout-out to Desiigner. “Oh mama, they question my starting lineup/ You only find a diamond from digging like coal miners/ Don’t listen to ’em, Desiigner,” he raps. “The same rappers talking, next year will be Uber drivers.”
Recently, the rapper has collaborated with a range of artists. Earlier this month Pusha T teamed up with Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo for Zeds Dead track “Too Young.” He also worked with Meek Mill for their “Black Moses” song, which appears on The Birth of a Nation: the Inspired by Album. In 2015, Pusha T released his second solo album, King Push: Darkest Before The Dawn – the Prelude.
