Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks to Play Pearl Harbor Benefit Shows
In honor of the 75th commemoration of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will play two shows in Hawaii on December 10th.
The net proceeds from the back-to-back shows at Honolulu’s Neal S. Blaisdell Arena will be dispersed via Pacific Historic Parks to organizations preserving the legacy of Pearl Harbor, including WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument (USS Arizona Memorial), Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor, USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park, and Battleship Missouri Memorial.
Unlike the full band presentation on his current tour, the Hawaii concerts will feature Brooks playing solo with his guitar, similar to the one-man show he performed at the Wynn in Las Vegas from 2009-2013. Yearwood came out midway through those shows for a few songs. These will mark his first-ever concerts in Hawaii.
“I can speak for Miss Yearwood when I say it is a privilege to be a part of honoring our nation’s fighting men and women who have and continue to serve our great nation,” Brooks says. “We look forward to a night packed with music laughter and respect. We invite all to join us and raise as much money as we can to support these memorials that honor our past and our future.”
Tickets go on sale October 22nd.
Today, Brooks is celebrating the long-awaited release of “Baby, Let’s Lay Down and Dance,” the first single from his new studio album. It’s available for download via a code on specially marked bags of Fritos. The new album will be out November 11th, both separately and as part of a Target-only 10-disc box set, Garth Brooks: The Ultimate Collection. Christmas Together, a holiday duets set from Brooks and Yearwood, comes out the same day.
