Lauren Alaina to Star in Upcoming Film ‘Road Less Traveled’
After releasing her latest song “Road Less Traveled” earlier this summer, Lauren Alaina‘s personal single is being made into into a movie. The singer is set to make her acting debut in Road Less Traveled, a feature-length film that has already begun production in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Road Less Traveled will feature co-star Charlene Tilton and centers around Alaina’s character, a wife-to-be returning to her Tennessee hometown from Los Angeles as she balances her fast-paced songwriting career with her personal life.
Alaina co-wrote “Road Less Traveled” with Meghan Trainor and Jesse Frasure, capturing a personal tale of redemption and struggle that came out of Alaina’s battle with an eating disorder when she was a contestant on American Idol. “I was just lost,” she told Rolling Stone Country in July.
“I was 15 on American Idol and everybody had something to say. It was like I had my really awkward phase on national television,” she added. “It’s still devastating when someone says something horrible about me, but I love myself so much more as a person. I found myself in these last few years.”
“Road Less Traveled” has become Alaina’s highest charting single to date, having just reached Number 22 on Billboard‘s country chart and eclipsing her previous peak with “Georgia Peaches.”
Alaina will play assorted dates throughout the fall, serving as an opener for both Alan Jackson and Bobby Bones and the Raging Idiots in addition to her own headlining gigs.
