Brian Wilson Extends ‘Pet Sounds’ Tour Through Summer, Fall
Brian Wilson will continue his massive tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Beach Boys‘ Pet Sounds through 2017 into the summer and fall.
The musician announced new North American and European dates, ending September 13th in Saratoga, California. Additional ticket and show information is available on Wilson’s website.
Wilson spent much of 2016 on his “Pet Sounds: The Final Performance Tour,” and has a handful of concerts still scheduled, including three U.S. shows and scattered international dates. During the concert, Wilson performs Pet Sounds in its entirely, along with various selections from his career with the Beach Boys and as a solo artist. His backing band features fellow former Beach Boys Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Wilson touched briefly on the Pet Sounds tour and finding new meaning in performing the beloved LP as a solo artist. “It reminds me of the harmonies that we did,” Wilson said. “My favorite part of music is harmony. That’s the part of music I like the most. I like the full harmony.”
Along with the retrospective trek, Wilson recently released a new book, I Am Brian Wilson: A Memoir, following 1991’s Wouldn’t It Be Nice: My Own Story. In 2015, Wilson released a solo album, No Pier Pressure, and has plans to record a new album in December. “I’m going to call it – so far, this is just a working title – Sensitive Music for Sensitive People,” he said. “I think that’s a good title and a good starting point.”
