See Maggie Rose’s Brutally Honest ‘Love Me More’ Video
With a voice that exudes both confidence and vulnerability, Maggie Rose shares the heartbreaking yet hopeful story of a woman on the way to rediscovering herself following a painful breakup. Mixing performance footage of Rose at a piano and a storyline that sees the main character in the clip enjoying a night-out at a bar where boys, cigarettes and shots of Patrón are plentiful; it’s soon obvious that she’s not having the kind of fun she had hoped.
As the night progresses and Rose’s passionate vocal builds up strength, the onscreen heroine finds herself regaining confidence and striking out on her own. “I’m gonna do whatever it takes to get living again,” she declares. “I’m back in my skin, every mistake I’m owning it/ I’m making sure I’m who I’m doing this for.” Her conclusion: “Sorry to say, I love you but I love me more.”
“Love Me More” and its accompanying video are the latest examples of the soulful honesty Rose has injected her music with since genre-busting tunes such as 2012’s “I Ain’t Your Mama” and the stunning revenge-remorse tale, “Looking Back Now” two years later. In addition this clip, CMT has premiered an in-studio performance of “Love Me More” in recognition of the “Same Sky” singer’s participation in their “Next Women of Country LIVE” series, which also features Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, Cassadee Pope, Cam and several other artists.
“Love Me More” is from Rose’s EP, The Variety Show, Volume One, released last April.
