Hear Beck’s Ultra-Poppy New Song ‘Up All Night’
While Beck fans await more information regarding the singer’s follow-up to 2014’s Morning Phase, another new track has emerged: The ultra-poppy “Up All Night,” which Beck provided to the FIFA ’17 video game soundtrack.
Following the similarly vibrant “Dreams” and “Wow,” the track, an early version of a new song from the forthcoming album, keeps Beck’s recent output resolutely on the dance floor as the one-time folksy singer-songwriter goes full blown Timberlake. “I just want to stay up all night with you,” Beck croons on the catchy chorus.
Speaking about his upcoming LP, Beck recently told Rolling Stone, “We’d go off on a Talking Heads kick, and then we’d come back six months later listening to something else. The record started to find an identity. My constant overriding thing was to find that affirming feeling – energy and joy.”
Although Beck previously promised an October 21st release for his 10th studio album, it’s unlikely the singer will reach that deadline, as no other information regarding the album has been announced. The musician has teased scant new music onstage: He performed live Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, but “Wow” was the only new song to appear on any of the set lists.
