See Joss Whedon’s All-Star Hillary Clinton-Supporting Ad
Avengers director Joss Whedon has assembled an all-star team of Hillary Clinton supporters – including his superhero-portraying brethren like Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Don Cheadle – for a series of comedy videos encouraging similarly liberal-leaning groups to vote for Clinton on Election Day.
Whedon’s Save the Day super PAC has already donated $1 million to help Clinton defeat Donald Trump, the Hollywood Reporter writes, and the new videos will aim towards attracting various demographics with low voter turnouts – specifically rural college-educated white women, black men and millennials – to register to vote and rally in support of Clinton.
Other celebrities in the Save the Day video, which mocks political ads in general, include Julianne Moore, James Franco, Keegan-Michael Key, Clark Gregg, Stanley Tucci, Martin Sheen, Neil Patrick Harris, Taran Killam, Rosie Perez and many more.
If the voters end up choosing Clinton on Election Day, the Save the Day celebrities all promise that Ruffalo will do a nude scene in his next movie, a cherry on top of Clinton-elected benefits like choosing new Supreme Court justices and crafting gun control laws.
“It’s not about attacking because Donny [Trump’s] real good at attacking himself,” Whedon told THR of the video. “It’s about getting people to vote, because it’s frightening the apathy that people are treating the most crucial election of their lifetimes with.”
