See Willie Nelson Smoke Out Jimmy Fallon During Tour Bus Visit
Willie Nelson‘s tour bus has seen its share of visitors, drawing through its front door an assortment of guests eager to talk shop with a country legend and, perhaps, enjoy a bit of his herbal wares.
Before performing on a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Nelson welcomed the late-night TV host aboard the bus. In the clip above, Fallon hits the bus lounge in an excited, talkative state, rattling off a string of questions before slowly realizing that Nelson hasn’t said a word. Then, after Fallon gives up on a one-sided conversation about grabbing dinner after the show, Nelson — perhaps struck with a case of the munchies — exhales a plume of smoke into his guest’s face. “How about Mexican?” he asks, unfazed by the monster hit, while Fallon coughs and battles his way through the early stages of a secondhand high.
The humorous bit arrives two weeks after Nelson entertained Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe on the same bus, while Nelson was visiting the northern half of the state to play Farm Aid. A photograph of the pair’s encounter shows McAuliffe — an outspoken critic of marijuana legalization — sitting with Nelson in the motor coach’s lounge, oblivious to the jar of Willie’s Reserve sativa marijuana sitting less than three inches from his elbow. Also nearby are a pot grinder and an ashtray.
The governor’s spokesperson, Brian Coy, told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that his boss “was not and still is not aware of whatever was on the table or anywhere around him and wouldn’t know marijuana or related paraphernalia if it walked up and shook his hand. He’s cool, but he’s not that cool.”
Nelson, whose Willie’s Reserve pot products are legally sold in Colorado, will remain on the road for much of the year, resuming his ongoing tour this Saturday with a pair of weekend dates that include appearance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
