See Billie Joe Armstrong’s First Leading Film Role in ‘Ordinary World’ Trailer
A new trailer for Ordinary World has been released featuring Green Day rocker Billie Joe Armstrong in a leading role about an aging musician. Armstrong co-stars alongside comedian Fred Armisen and actress Selma Blair.
Armstrong plays Perry, a father and husband who had punk ambitions in his youth. When his band didn’t break through, Perry put the group on hold in order to focus on his family. The film chronicles the day of Perry’s 40th birthday, which his wife has forgotten. He ends up having a party at a fancy New York City hotel with his former bandmates before havoc ensues. Along the way he runs into a former flame and attempts to make his daughter’s talent show.
Ordinary World is named for one of the original songs Armstrong wrote for the film. The movie originally premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was followed by a performance of the new music alongside Joan Jett, who makes a cameo as herself in the movie. It will be released on DVD and as a digital download on October 17th.
