Watch Moby Hear From Late Father on ‘Hollywood Medium’
Moby confronts the memory of his late father, who died when the DJ was just two, in a cathartic clip from Hollywood Medium With Tyler Henry.
In the video (via Stereogum) Henry performs a reading that increasingly leaves Moby at a loss for words. Henry first picks out a detail about the DJ’s familial connection to New Jersey, then his father’s name, James, and finally the fact that Moby’s relationship with his father is rooted in his dad’s death. Incredulous, Moby asks, “Are you sure we haven’t met before?”
After Henry assures him they haven’t, the host notes that during the reading he also picked up on an element of dysfunction, specifically a family history of alcoholism. Moby confirms the medium’s hunch, saying, “My father died when I was two, and my father died very drunk, cause he was an alcoholic, and he died in a car accident while he was driving.” (It should be noted that Moby’s father’s alcoholism and death have been previously covered in the press.)
