See Jessie James Decker’s Sexy ‘Lights Down Low’ on ‘Today’
Torchy singing country beauty Jessie James Decker performed her brand new single “Lights Down Low” on the Today show Wednesday, August 31st, showing off a comeback anthem of sorts – her first song to hit the charts since 2013’s “I Do.”
James Decker has been plenty busy in the interim, however, diving into family life as wife to NFL wide receiver Eric Decker and mother to two bundles of joy. Part of that experience was seen on the couple’s E! reality TV show, Eric & Jessie: Game On, and with the swaying, stay-home romance of “Lights Down Low,” she sings about maintaining some semblance of a love life in the young-family dynamic.
“It is the fun side of marriage,” she told Rolling Stone Country about the song, co-written with Alyssa Bonagura. “I think when I wrote it I wasn’t trying to do that, I was just writing how my husband and I are. A lot of people don’t realize it’s hard to be married sometimes. . . when you have kids it can be hard because you’ve got to find creative ways to spend time with each other, so with ‘Lights Down Low’ I wanted to just write about all the things that we do to try to keep the love alive in creative ways, because you can’t always go out on a date. . . but you can make a date at home.”
With “Lights Down Low,” James Decker hit that nail on the head, packing the feel-good track with lyrics about staying home to make pancakes for dinner instead of going out, snuggling up and playing footsie on the couch and generally goofing off with the one you love – until the baby starts crying again, that is. She and husband Eric also brought the song to life in a cozy, flirty video.
James Decker’s second studio album is expected to be released in early 2017, and she currently has an October 7th show at the House of Blues in San Diego, followed by one October 8th at the Foundry in Las Vegas.
