See Michelle Obama, Stephen Colbert Make Blanket Fort, Talk Beyonce
Michelle Obama joined Stephen Colbert Tuesday in his elaborate blanket fort during a goofy Late Show segment. “I wish there was a place I could go where everything I knew when I was a child was still true,” the host daydreamed, joining the First Lady for some deep, childlike ruminations.
While munching on some of the First Lady’s trademark vegetables, the duo pondered questions like “If you got stuck on a desert island with one famous person, who would you pick?” (Colbert: “The President.” Obama: “Beyoncé.”) and “Do you know where babies come from?” Nervous to share their respective “one wish,” they blurted out their responses at the same time: “improve access to education for the 62 million girls worldwide who are not in school.”
Obama also sat down with Colbert for a wide-ranging interview, discussing her and Barack’s Essence photo shoot and Beyonce’s real personality. “What is Beyoncé really like?” Colbert asked. “She’s a sweetheart,” Obama said. “She’s smart. creative. She’s a great mother. She loves her family. She’s just a low-key lady, so we have a lot in common in that way. Except I can’t sing. I can’t dance … not like Beyoncé.”
Michelle also offered a hilarious Barack impression, simulating a White House dinner table conversation filled with chatter about both global warming and, naturally, her favorite songs on Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
