See Jimmy Kimmel Test Pedestrians on Imaginary Presidential Debate
Before Monday night’s Presidential debate, Jimmy Kimmel sent a camera crew into the streets of Los Angeles to probe the political knowledge of random bystanders. “We asked people what they thought of the debate last night,” Kimmel said. “Of course, the debate wasn’t last night. It’s tonight, and this was done hours before the candidates took the stage.”
Nevertheless, people were happy to share their opinions on what happened during the “debate.” “She made a lot more valid points,” one man said of Hillary Clinton. “But Donald Trump had valid points as well.” Another man described Clinton as “very poiseful.” A third suggested that Trump “made his points clearly, honestly and he showed more leadership than I expected.”
The questions about the imaginary debate became increasingly ridiculous. One woman was asked, “What did you think of the moment where Donald Trump challenged Hillary to do pull-ups on that pull-up bar he brought out?” Later, a man was asked, “Were you surprised when Donald Trump screamed at Hillary Clinton, ‘liar, liar, pantsuit on fire?'” Passersby responded in earnest to both questions, highlighting the low bar for ludicrousness in this election cycle.
The next U.S. presidential debate takes place Sunday, October 9th.
