Watch People Discuss Fake Bill Clinton, Melania Trump Debate on ‘Kimmel’
In honor of Tuesday’s Vice Presidential debate, Jimmy Kimmel Live! revived its on-the-street interview bit “Lie Witness News” that asks strangers about the (obviously) nonexistent “First Lady Debate” between Melania Trump and Bill Clinton.
“These debates are important, and with that comes pressure to appear to be informed,” Kimmel said. “Obviously there was no ‘First Lady debate’, although it would be pretty great if there was. There’s never been a First Lady debate, and Bill Clinton is not a lady.”
The Kimmel crew hit the streets and asked people specific questions about the fake debate – including Melania’s plagiarism of Michelle Obama; Lester Holt’s wife, Leslie, serving as moderator; and the First Ladies showcasing their recipes for oatmeal cookies. “Bill’s sounded pretty good to me,” one man enthused. “I thought I’d try them out.”
Other strangers criticized Melania for speaking issues and being under-prepared. Another man corrected the interviewer’s usage of “First Lady”: “First Man Bill, of course, because he’s a cordial gentleman, and he goes out of his way,” he said. “And I just believe Melania probably plagiarized, and she didn’t know what she was talking about.”
