Watch Warpaint Gallivant Around NYC in Self-Shot ‘New Song’ Video
Warpaint use their video shoot for new song “New Song” as an excuse for shenanigans, where the indie rock quartet from Los Angeles get in the New York groove. They preen for the (iPhone?) camera, hold each other, eat pizza, dance on curbs and frolic through bodegas.
Atop sizzling guitars and crashing electronic sounds, the group sings, “I have never felt this strong, dancing to you all night long.” The simple, self-recorded video comes a week before the band’s third album Heads Up is released September 23rd. The new album, which follows 2014’s Warpaint, was influenced by an eclectic group of artists, including Janet Jackson, Björk, Kendrick Lamar and Outkast.
“I feel really proud of what we made – almost surprised and shocked,” singer/bassist Jenny Lee Lindberg said in a statement. “When we were making it, I was like, ‘I wonder what this is going to sound like? How’s this going to come together?’ I love the way that it came together so nicely. I feel so proud of it, and like it’s an evolution of our band. It sounds like a mature version of Warpaint.”
The band will promote the album this fall on a global tour, which kicks off September 19th in Seattle and winds down November 4th at the Iceland Airwaves Festival in Reykjavik.
