Emmys 2016: Watch Jeb Bush’s Surprise Cameo as Uber Driver in Opening Sketch
Jeb Bush may have dropped out of the presidential campaign seven months ago, but he decided to show up tonight in Jimmy Kimmel’s opening monologue sketch as a chauffeur, or Uber driver, of the limo for President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Veep character) taking her to the Emmys.
When Kimmel jumps in the front seat, he is confronted with Bush, the former governor of Florida, in a chauffeur’s cap.
“I’m in between jobs right now,” the politician says. “You know you can make $12 an hour driving for Uber?”
He then asks the host if he’s nominated: “Wow. What’s that like?”
After Kimmel tells him there’s a lot of competition to win, Bush offers advice: “If you run a positive campaign, the voters ultimately will make the right choice.” When the awards show’s M.C. starts talking about his psychic, Bush interrupts: “Jimmy, that was a joke.”
Kimmel went on to blame Apprentice creator and producer Mark Burnett for Donald Trump’s rise to the Republican presidential nominee. After The Voice won an Emmy for Best Reality Show, Burnett commented that Hillary Clinton called to say he gave Trump five minutes of free advertising on ABC.
