Hear Kanye West’s Tenacious ‘Tiimmy Turner’ Remix
Kanye West delivers a vivid, vibrant and varied verse on a brief but breathtaking remix of Desiigner‘s “Tiimmy Turner.”
Clocking in at just over two minutes, West packs an array of characteristically quotable lines and infectious melodies into the remix, starting with the deceptively sweet tune he lends his opening lines, “Born in the nation that breeded us/ Why they don’t ever show me the love?” By the end, West is classic kiss-off mode, proclaiming, “I’m the new Steve, mixed with Ali/ ‘Bout to get freed, I’m the new Walt/ Fuck what you thought.”
West’s “Tiimmy Turner” remix marks the rapper’s latest show of support for Desiigner, whom he signed to G.O.O.D. Music on the strength of breakout single “Panda.” West later made a cameo in the track’s video and prominently sampled it on The Life of Pablo‘s “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2.”
Desiigner released “Tiimmy Turner” in July, expanding on his XXL Freshman Freestyle. The track marked the MC’s first single since the release of his debut mixtape, New English, in June.
Desiigner, the teenage Brooklyn rapper behind “Panda,” turned a $200 beat into a smash hit.
