Dana Carvey, Reggie Watts, Michael Che, More Prep Netflix Specials
Dana Carvey, Reggie Watts, Michael Che and Colin Quinn will release new comedy specials on Netflix this fall, Entertainment Weekly reports.
The streaming service has added eight new specials to its fall comedy line-up, starting with Cedric the Entertainer’s Live from the Ville, a stand-up set recorded at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and set to premiere September 16th.
Meanwhile, Carvey’s new special, Dana Carvey: Straight White Male, 60, will arrive November 4th. Recorded at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, the show features stand-up as well as the comedian’s indelible impressions, which he’s lately truncated into nano-impressions that capture a celebrity’s essence in just a few words.
Netflix will also host a taping of Colin Quinn’s Broadway show, The New York Story, starting November 18th. Directed by Jerry Seinfeld, the performance finds the Saturday Night Live alum delving into the history of New York City and the groups who shaped it.
Michael Che Matters, the new hour from the Weekend Update co-anchor, will premiere November 25th, while Reggie Watts: Spatial follows on December 6th. Watts recorded his completely improvised show live on a soundstage in Los Angeles, performing a mix of sketches, short stories and dream sequences.
Also set to debut on the streaming service this fall: Russell Peters: Almost Famous on October 7th, Joe Rogan: Triggered on October 21st and Gabriel Iglesias: I’m Sorry for What I Said When I Was Hungry on December 20th. Along with these eight specials, Netflix previously announced Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy’s We’ve Been Thinking…, out Friday August 26th, and Iliza Shlesinger’s Confirmed Kills, out September 23rd.
