Rae Sremmurd Party With Fireworks, Flamethrowers in New Video
Rae Sremmurd host a decadent bash in their wild video for “Start a Party.” Fire-dancers, fireworks, twerking and a seemingly endless supply of alcohol dominate the clip, which finds the rappers celebrating their status as new rap stars.
“Everything I touch turns gold/ My bankroll just won’t fold,” Swae Lee rhymes over a skittering trap beat. “Goddamn them hundreds too old/ Gettin’ money my favorite sport.”
“Start a Party” is the lead track from Rae Sremmurd‘s recently released second LP, Sremmlife 2 – which, as the duo told Rolling Stone, finds the group responding to the criticism that they make “kiddie music.”
“SremmLife, we didn’t have nothin’, so we was rapping, and we were just trying to go as hard as we could,” said Slim Jxmmi. “And SremmLife 2 is all of our experiences after that, after making it, feeling success, feeling love from all the people and the women, buying things, getting money, spending and losing money.
“It sounds different because we’ve never been rich; we’ve never had this much money before,” he continued. “I got a chain, and it got big diamonds on it. I ain’t never had a real diamond on anything. That’s something I can talk about now, and I have it, so I can really tell you about it. That’s what SremmLife 2 is. It’s after having done things and experienced new things, and making new music.”
