Hear Beck’s Bouncy, Cumbia-Infused ‘Wow’ Remix
As Beck fans await details regarding his follow up album to Grammy Award-winning Morning Phase, the singer has dropped a new remix for his latest single “Wow.” Dubbed “Wow (Guau! Mexican Institute of Sound Remix),” the new version adds cumbia horns, 8-bit blips and a Spanish language rap verse to the festive cut.
Rolling Stone spoke to Beck in July about his “joyous” new LP, which could feature previously released singles like “Wow” and “Dreams” alongside new tracks like “Seventh Heaven” and “No Distractions.” “There’s a substratum to a lot of the songs – songs within other songs, choruses that became bridges,” Beck said. “It’s not far from how I made my first couple of records.” The still-untitled record is due out in October.
Beck embarks on a North American tour in September, kicking off the short trek September 15th in New Orleans and wrapping the jaunt six shows later September 24th at Franklin, Tennessee’s Pilgrimage Music Festival. The singer spent the latter half of July performing in Southeast Asia, but those shows did not feature any new music.
