Hear Stephen Colbert’s Wild Conspiracy Theory About Hillary Clinton
Stephen Colbert descended into his truth bunker and debuted a new conspiracy theory segment called “Tinfoil Hat” on The Late Show Wednesday.
The bit was prompted by Donald Trump’s recent suggestions that the 2016 election could be rigged, as well unsubstantiated claims from him and allies like Karl Rove about Hillary Clinton’s health. Colbert was more than ready to bust these conspiracies wide open. “Welcome to the Truth Bunker,” Colbert declared. “Here I share the secret truths they don’t want you to know, and I actually don’t know.”
In regards to the rumors about Clinton’s health, Colbert astutely noted if Hillary Clinton wasn’t sick, why was the word “ill” right in her name? The host called politics a “distraction from the real questions,” such as “Why is only one kind of dog allowed to be a fireman?” Colbert asked as he held up a drawing of a dalmatian. “Do all other dogs love setting fires?”
Colbert bravely parsed several more devastating secrets, like what is Hidden Valley Ranch hiding? When ordering a soup and half-sandwich, who’s eating the other half of the sandwich? And, most intriguing, who’s watching the show Bones? “They say it’s been on for 11 years,” Colbert joked, “yet I have no proof that it exists.”
