DNC Livestream: Watch Bill Clinton’s Speech on Day 2
After a hectic start on Day 1 of the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia – with speeches by Michelle Obama, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders trying to unite the party – Day 2’s theme is “A Lifetime of Fighting for Children and Families.” The night features former President Bill Clinton, as well as House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Beforehand, the Mothers of the Movement, a group of mothers who have lost their children to gun violence or were killed by police officers, spoke. The group includes the mothers of Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis.
A number of Bernie Sanders supporters were emotional on Monday night of the DNC, with many even booing and heckling. Bernie himself was booed by his fans Monday morning, after telling a crowd, “We must vote for Hillary Clinton.” President Bill Clinton, a common site at rallies such as this, has spoken at every convention in the past 25 years and has successfully rallied the party loyals to his side. He’s expected to speak at 10 p.m. ET and will be followed by Meryl Streep, who introduces a film. The evening will finish with a performance by Alicia Keys.
