Lady Gaga, Elton John, Stevie Wonder Top Tony Bennett Tribute Concert
Lady Gaga, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Billy Joel will perform with Tony Bennett at a special concert celebrating the crooner’s 90th birthday that will air December 20th on NBC, Variety reports.
The all-star lineup for Tony Bennett Celebrates 90: The Best Is Yet to Come also features Andrea Bocelli, Michael Bublé, Diana Krall, k.d. lang and Rufus Wainwright, all of whom will perform with Bennett. The show will also feature appearances from Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Kevin Spacey, John Travolta, Bruce Willis and even Homer Simpson.
“I turn 90 tomorrow [August 3rd] and feel like I’m just getting started and look forward to each day,” Bennett said in a statement. “I have loved performing for the public and sharing the music I love with the world. It’s a thrill to have NBC air a special in honor of my birthday and to have so many wonderful artists that I have worked with and admire participate.”
In 2006, the singer celebrated his 80th birthday with an NBC special, Tony Bennett: An American Classic, that also featured performances with Wonder, John, Krall and Bublé, as well as Christina Aguilera, John Legend and Barbra Streisand.
Bennett, unsurprisingly, remains as busy as ever. Along with regular live dates around the world, the singer continues to record new albums, like his 2015 offering, The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern, and 2014 collaboration with Lady Gaga, Cheek to Cheek.
