Hear Dinosaur Jr.’s Blistering Ripper ‘Goin Down’
Western Massachusetts shred lords Dinosaur Jr. have released a ragged, raging new song, “Goin Down,” the opening cut from their upcoming album, Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not.
“Goin Down” finds frontman J Mascis at his best, drawling dry, introspective lyrics over his torrential guitar. Bassist Lou Barlow and drummer Murph meanwhile steer the chugging track — especially as Mascis tears off another wild solo — but “Goin Down” features a few fresh musical tricks, including the sudden clink of chimes that ushers in the song’s anthemic chorus.
Dinosaur Jr. will release Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not August 5th via Jagjaguwar. The album marks the alt-rock outfit’s 11th LP and follows 2012’s I Bet on Sky. The album is available to pre-order through the band’s site, iTunes and Amazon.
Dinosaur Jr. will celebrate the release of Give a Glimpse with an August 5th show at Rough Trade Records in Brooklyn, after which they’ll play a festival date in Atlanta, as well as a show in Japan. The group will then embark on a massive world tour September 7th in New Haven, Connecticut.
