Watch Legs McNeil, Gillian McCain Tour Bowery’s Punk Landmarks
Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain, who will release a 20th anniversary reissue of their punk bible Please Kill Me: The Uncensored History of Punk, recently led Rolling Stone on a Facebook Live tour of the Bowery, the New York strip that was once home to some of the most vital punk locales. In this exclusive video, watch as McNeil and McCain revisit places like CBGB, Ramones collaborator Arturo Vega’s lot and the park where the Ramones photographed their iconic debut album cover.
In addition to the reissue, McNeil and McCain are in the midst of a book tour commemorating Please Kill Me. “We figured the best way to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Please Kill Me; The Uncensored Oral History of Punk and the 40th Anniversary of the Ramones playing CBGB’s for the first time, would be to take the show on the road, touring the Ace Hotels throughout the summer, reading from the 20th Anniversary Edition, as well as telling stories, playing great tunes as guest DJ’s and partying up a storm,” the authors said in a statement.
The Ace Hotel book tour continues Saturday night in Palm Springs, Monday night in Los Angeles and August 8th in Portland, Oregon.
