Garth Brooks Plots First-Ever Show at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium
It’s hard to believe that throughout the course of his record-breaking, 30-something-year career in country music, Garth Brooks has never once headlined a concert at the Ryman Auditorium.
That will all change on September 8th, when Brooks will host a special one-off performance at Nashville’s famed venue to coincide with the launch of his very own SiriusXM channel. “Just the thought of playing the Ryman is crazy,” Brooks says in a statement.
The invitation-only concert will be broadcast live on SiriusXM’s the Garth Channel, and SiriusXM subscribers can enter to win tickets either by calling in or entering an online contest.
The Garth Channel, which will launch with the live broadcast of Brooks’ Ryman performance, will air the most extensive collection of the country superstar’s music to date, with selections of live recordings, rare archival material, specially hosted shows by Brooks himself and a selection of songs from artists who’ve influenced his own career.
The Ryman Auditorium, which will be the most intimate venue Brooks has headlined on his current run of stadiums and arenas, will serve as an opportunity for him to connect directly with his fans. “Building relationships with the people who allow you to be artists, it’s still one-on-one,” he said earlier this month. “Take every change you can to look into somebody’s face, talk to them and they’ll go, ‘This guy is a person.’ It gives you a chance to meet new people, and I think that’s what it’s all about.”
