Tegan and Sara Honor Prince, Bowie in ‘Faint of Heart’ Video
Tegan and Sara host the ultimate lip sync battle and cede center stage to budding LGBTQ artists in their new video for “Faint of Heart.”
The Devon Kirkpatrick-directed clip, which premiered via Teen Vogue, finds the young performers lip-syncing the striving, sensual pop ballad while dressed as an array of artists. Tyler Ford plays Prince, Ella Giselle plays Madonna, Dominic Ravina plays Elvis, Olabisi Kovabel plays Grace Jones and Cooper Treibel plays David Bowie. And while Tegan and Sara only make a small cameo in the “Faint of Heart” video, they weren’t entirely absent as Ni Ching-Marino and Eli Erlick played the Quin sisters, respectively.
“Faint of Heart” appears on Tegan and Sara’s latest album, Love You to Death. The LP finds the Quin sisters continuing to explore dancefloor-ready electro pop, which they turned to on their 2013 album, Heartthrob, after years of dabbling in folk and pop-punk.
“We went pop because I wanted to make music that sounded different from what we were doing, and Tegan wanted to be more successful,” Sara told Rolling Stone. “I respect albums you have to listen to 10 times to get into it, but that’s not our band.”
